Life After Breast Cancer

July 2006

One month after Crickett’s diagnosis of Stage IV breast cancer.  In this photo, she was at a salon waiting to have all her curls cut off to avoid seeing hair fall out in clumps.  Isn’t it hard to believe that someone who appeared so full of life could be so seriously ill?

While driving home from the doctor's appointment in which she learned that she had metastatic breast cancer, Crickett promised her mom to fight with everything she had... but then to become her guardian angel one day.  This photo shows Crickett and her mom wearing their matching "Angel Tears" necklaces, found while shopping shortly after Crickett made this promise.

To say that Crickett was a lover of charm bracelets would be quite an understatement!  In this photo, she's proudly showing off a new bracelet, crafted of charms personally chosen by each of her close friends and coworkers to reflect their relationship with her.  This bracelet was so fabulous that it brought a $1000 bid at a charity auction for the Johns Hopkins Crickett Julius Memorial Scholarship!

Crickett and her mom during her October hospitalization, just a few short weeks before her death.  Breast cancer robbed Crickett of her health, her hair, and her physical vitality with shockingly brutal speed.  Yet it could NEVER take away her inner strength, love of life, and that beautiful smile!  She remains an inspiration to those who knew her.

Crickett's brother, June 2007

Crickett’s brother, Bill, as he and his family participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life© in Crickett’s memory.  He walked all through the night, and Crickett was cheering him on every step of the way.
